Real Madrid fans showed their support for Xabi Alonso during Saturday’s home win over Levante, with a large section of the ground booing those stars he reportedly was at loggerheads with.
The ex-Liverpool midfielder left the club last week by “mutual consent,” although the team is still in the Spanish title race and occupies one of the automatic Champions League qualification places.
However, reports in Spain claimed that internal politics ultimately led to his departure, a decision made following the Super Cup loss to Barcelona. Alonso reportedly clashed with several key players such as Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde.

Kylian Mbappe, who netted once again on Saturday, was immune from supporters’ jeers.
There were also chants for club president Florentino Perez to leave, with the supporters clearly frustrated by Alonso’s exit.
However, last week, Bellingham denied the reports that he and Alonso had fallen out.

“Until now l've let far too many of these slide, always hoping the truth will come to light in its own time,” the England international wrote on social media.
“But honestly... What a load of s---. Truly feel sorry for the people that hang onto the every word of these clowns and their 'sources.'
“Do not believe everything you read, every now and then these lot need to be held accountable for spreading this kind of damaging misinformation for clicks and added controversy.”

Meanwhile, Alvaro Arbeloa, who replaced Alonso as head coach, defended Perez after the match.
“I know where the boos and the campaigns are coming from, they are not from people who don’t like Florentino, but from people who don’t like Madrid,” said the former Liverpool full-back.
“They’re not going to fool me. We’re lucky to have him because he’s the most important person in the history of the club alongside Santiago Bernabeu.”
Real’s win, coupled with Barcelona’s shock defeat to Real Sociedad, saw Los Blancos cut the gap to the league leaders to just a point. Meanwhile, Alonso continues to be linked with a role at several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.
Arne Slot’s position is looking increasingly uncertain following the 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday, which means the Reds have failed to beat all three promoted teams at home for the first time in 45 years.
