Real Madrid 'hatch Erling Haaland plan' that would stun Man City and Premier League rivals

Erling Haaland still has eight-and-a-half years left on his Manchester City contract, but that seemingly isn't about to stop Real Madrid from trying to sign him in the summer transfer window

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly eyeing up a 'dream' move for Manchester City forward Erling Haaland this summer - three-and-a-half years after losing out on his signature.

Haaland had City and Real locked in a battle to sign him back in 2022, following another goal laden season at Borussia Dortmund. In the end, however, the Norway international chose City and the Premier League.

Since his move to Pep Guardiola's side, Haaland has cemented himself as Europe's top striker, with the 25-year-old scoring a remarkable 150 goals in 175 appearances for City. In that time, he has won the Premier League twice, the Champions League on one occasion, the Super Cup, the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

With City on course to reach the Carabao Cup final after a 2-0 semi-final first leg win at Newcastle on Tuesday, Haaland could be set to win every domestic and European trophy he has competed for at the Etihad Stadium. It's a stunning record for a player that doesn't turn 26 until July and still has a number of years at the top level.

But, there is talk that Haaland could leave City at the end of the season. According to Sky Sports, Real president Perez is 'dreaming' of bringing Haaland to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. It's added that Perez is still in contact with Haaland's representatives and agent Rafaela Pimenta.

Although Haaland has until 2034 on his contract at City and is valued at more than £400million, Real are ambitious and feel like the ex-Molde man would take them to the next level.

However, Los Blancos would have to sell Vinicius Jr, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool, before even considering Haaland.

Haaland is thought to be a 'huge fan' of Spain and sees Real Madrid as his ultimate career goal.

Los Blancos are the most successful and seen as the biggest club in world football and are often a catch for the elite players.

Speaking on his future on the Rest is Football last month, Haaland said: "I also signed it because of conversations that I've had with the [club's] bosses and also the plan in the next years, and that was something I wanted to be a part of.

"And yeah, I'm calm, I'm focused, and I’m really happy here, so it's a really good place to be for development and also in the end, England, it's a football country, and I think it’s the best place to play football."

Haaland, who has scored 26 times in 29 matches so far this season, will be hoping to add to his goal tally when City face arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
