PSG showed interest in Dean Huijsen in the summer of 2024 as part of an effort to bolster their defense. However, the Spanish center-back ultimately signed with AFC Bournemouth.
Huijsen was still fairly new to Bournemouth at the time, and it wasn’t until the end of the 2024-25 season that he truly broke through and became a recognizable name in the Premier League.
Looking back, turning down a move to PSG seems to have paid off. Just a year later, the defender got the chance to sign for his dream club, Real Madrid. Huijsen eventually joined Real Madrid in a deal worth €58 million.
Dean Huijsen’s Agent Talks PSG Interest From 2024

Huijsen’s agent, Ali Barat, recently revealed that the defender turned down a move to PSG, believing he would have better opportunities for playing time at Bournemouth.
“Dean Huijsen was considered a promising option for PSG in 2024. He believed he would get more opportunities to play regularly at Bournemouth compared to PSG,” Barat said (h/t RMC Sport).
When discussing the Real Madrid move, Barat — who recently likened Huijsen to German legend Franz Beckenbauer — said the club was clear and upfront about their intentions.
“When Real Madrid joined the race to sign him, they showed him firm conviction and presented a project that perfectly aligns with his development. For him, Real Madrid represents the right vision for his future,” Barat added.
