Reece James is one of six Chelsea stars currently unavailable to Liam Rosenior but the Blues captain could be back sooner than expected
Chelsea are hoping that three key defenders can return from injury for the latter stages of the 2025/26 season. Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill are currently unavailable with varying issues, though the latter has returned to training.
Having missed seven months, Colwill is expected to be eased back into the fold with no clear timeline on a competitive return. An update on when James could be back has emerged, though, with The Guardian reporting the indications are that he may be back later this month or in early May.
Chalobah is another looking at that date for his return from an ankle injury, with Jamie Gittens and Filip Jorgensen as some of the other Chelsea stars missing. While Jorgensen could return next weekend, Liam Rosenior confirmed that Gittens has suffered a fresh hamstring problem.
With all of that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest updates on the Chelsea stars out injured and when they could return
Reece James
Another hamstring injury is keeping James out of action with initial fears that he may not play again this season eased. The England international had avoided any issues in that area 18 months.

What Rosenior has said: "Reece is getting along really well, but he's not ready yet. I don't know [in terms of a return date] yet. We work day to day, and I don't want to give a timeline and [the players] not come through with that timeline."
