It seems that everyone associated with Tottenham Hotspur is unhappy at the moment, and it’s causing a massive rift between the players and the fans.
You would have thought that, after ending a 17-year wait for a trophy last season, there would be a real air of positivity around Tottenham this term.
However, things are going from bad to worse at the moment. The Lilywhites are without a win in 2026 and have slumped to 14th place in the Premier League table.
Spurs are now given almost no hope of qualifying for the Champions League after the defeat to Bournemouth. And after that game, tempers flared between supporters and players, with Micky van de Ven seen arguing with fans at full-time.

Disconnect between Tottenham players and fans is worse than ever
While reports suggest the Tottenham board are considering Thomas Frank’s position, another report from The Telegraph states relations between the fans and the players is reaching breaking point.
There has been an underlying issue there since earlier this season, when players discussed internally how disconnected they felt with the supporters at the club.
Now, it’s said this problem ‘is now viewed within the squad as critical’ after recent events. It would seem further meetings between the players have taken place to vent frustrations and pinpoint issues, with the atmosphere at the club coming up once more.
How that problem is solved remains to be seen. But, improved performances and results would certainly help.

The Spurs fans have a right to be annoyed
2025 was a bizarre year for Spurs. We saw the club finish 17th in the league, which is simply unacceptable and embarrassing, let’s be honest.
At the same time, that Europa League win was something special, and cannot be overlooked. The problem is the fans obviously feel there is a lack of cohesion and passion from the players, and they’ve every right to be frustrated given the fact that nothing appears to have changed under Thomas Frank.
Fans have already suggested replacements for Frank, while it’s widely believed the squad is not good enough for the level Spurs want and need to be at.
From top to bottom, there are inherent issues at Tottenham Hotspur. The fans expect a lot better, and so they should. Still, the only way anything will be solved is with everyone pulling together in the same direction.
