Robbie Fowler has named his Liverpool FC Mount Rushmore with Steven Gerrard included, but some big names, including Mohamed Salah — currently away at AFCON with Egypt — are missing out.

"I’ll go for the greatest," Fowler told Sport Bible. "Stevie G has got to be there for dragging Liverpool through so much. Ian Rush, in terms of his goals. Sir Kenny Dalglish, and you know what, I’m gonna put John Barnes on there as well.

"Honestly, there needs to be a Mount Rushmore 2 and a Mount Rushmore 3. I think we could go on all day with Liverpool players. Some absolute superstars there."

Gerrard won everything aside from the Premier League with Liverpool and dragged the Reds to many a trophy. Alongside Dalglish, he is arguably the club's greatest ever player.

The Scouser was recently asked by TNT Sports about the possibility of him returning to Anfield if Arne Slot was to be fired, though results for the Dutchman have since seen an upturn.

"I'll be brutally, brutally honest with you," he said. "I'd help Liverpool in any department at any minute of every day. I'd help them with anything.

"I don't want the Arne Slot to lose his job. I want him to fix this and turn it around and make Liverpool great. I was bouncing all over the city four or five months ago when Liverpool won the league.

Former Liverpool player, Steven Gerrard looks on prior to the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 League Phase MD5 match between Liverpool FC and PSV Eindhoven at Anfield on November 26, 2025 in Liverpool, England.

"I'm a Liverpool fan. I want the best for Liverpool. But if Liverpool need me in any department at any time, I'll be there for them."

Salah, meanwhile, though he wasn't mentioned, has won everything with Liverpool, scoring 250 goals in the process. In time, he will certainly be in the conversation for being right up there among the best.

This weekend, the Egyptian is aiming to fire Egypt into the quarter-finals at AFCON. The Pharaohs will take on Ivory Coast on Saturday, seeking to qualify for the semi-finals.

Salah scored in the previous round and has three goals in three appearances so far at the tournament. He is among the candidates to win the Golden Boot, especially if Egypt goes all the way to the final.

"Egypt signalled their attacking intent early when Salah released Omar Marmoush," the Arabic daily newspaper Al-Ahram said. "Whose one-on-one effort was denied by Benin goalkeeper Marcel Dandjinou in the seventh minute."

Highlighting his influence again, they noted: "Atteya finally broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, finishing from the edge of the area after a one-two between Salah and Mohamed Hany."

International broadcaster BeIN Sports lauded Salah's strike: "Mohamed Salah put the contest to bed on the counter.

"The Liverpool star finished clinically to score his third goal of the tournament, sealing the win and confirming a hard-fought, but fully deserved, place in the next round of the next round."
