Robbie Fowler needed just four words to sum up Liverpool during its latest dismal showing against Brighton.

The Reds suffered their tenth league defeat of the season as they fell to a 2-1 loss on the south coast, putting yet another dent into their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League - although they were handed a much-needed reprieve after Chelsea’s defeat at Everton.

Nevertheless, it’s yet another result that will leave supporters concerned about the direction that Arne Slot’s side is heading, coming just days after the mood was lifted by the victory over Galatasary, which is now looking like another false dawn.

It was yet another frustrating day for Liverpool’s fans as they watched their side come out second best once again against the Seagulls.

The mood among supporters was summed up by Reds legend Fowler’s message midway through the second half, with the former striker no doubt echoing thousands of other fans.

“All. Over. The. Place,” Fowler posted on X after Liverpool fell behind for the second time on Saturday.

He wasn’t the only Reds legend to be left frustrated by what he saw, with Steven Gerrard on hand at the Amex Stadium to give his immediate reaction.

"We’ve seen it quite a few times this season where they put in a lot of effort, perform well on the Champions League stage, all the emotion and energy you need to put into those games to get a result; it’s having a big impact on them on the weekend," the former Liverpool captain said on TNT Sports.

"They haven’t got the options on the bench or the squad to really make the changes to bring that energy and the quality into the team to the same level they did in midweek.

"They had to play a lot of the same players today. There were a few changes that were forced on the manager rather than he wanted to make and it backfired today."

Liverpool’s players will now head out on international duty before returning for the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City on April 4.

That game starts what is a crucial last couple of months for the Reds, with a Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain also thrown into the mix.

Slot’s side is still to face fellow top-five rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa, with all three meetings scheduled during the final month of the campaign as Liverpool’s hopes of reaching the Champions League hang in the balance.
