Roberto Mancini is being touted as a potential successor to Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest, following the latter's dismissal.

And should he take up tenure, it could land him with an emotional reunion with Manchester City in the near future. Postecoglou was shown the door at Forest after a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

His stint with the club lasted just 39 days in total. Despite only taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo in September, the board decided to sever ties with him after failing to secure a single victory in his eight matches in charge.

Consequently, Mancini has surfaced as a possible contender for the City Ground hot seat, with Forest languishing in 18th position in the Premier League table, having managed just one win, two draws and five defeats. According to The Athletic, Forest have been 'in contact' with Mancini regarding a move to Trentside.

And should he prevail as a successor to Postecoglou, he could be the man in charge of the club's meeting with Pep Guardiola's City come December 27. The 60 year old has been without a job since departing his role as head coach of the Saudi Arabian national team last year, but has an mpressive CV.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

Mancini clinched a Coppa Italia each with Fiorentina and Lazio before moving to Inter Milan in 2004. During his four-year tenure at the San Siro, the Italian bagged three Serie A titles and four domestic cups before heading to City, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

At City, he lifted the FA Cup in the 2010/11 season, followed by the club's maiden Premier League title the very next year, courtesy of Sergio Aguero's unforgettable last-minute goal against QPR. Mancini, who also clinched the Community Shield later that year, left the club in 2013.

Since then, he has held positions at Galatasaray, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Italy, Saudi Arabia and had a second spell with Inter. It's now reported that the former forward is on the hunt for his next managerial post.

Recent reports claimed that Mancini was open to taking the reins at Old Trafford if Ruben Amorim were to be dismissed by Manchester United.

However, The Telegraph suggests that he is a strong candidate for the vacant position at Forest. However, Mancini isn't the only name being bandied about for the job.

Sean Dyche is currently thought to be the favourite to replace Postecoglou in the Midlands, having been out of work since leaving Everton in January. Other names being mentioned include Fulham's Marco Silva, ex-Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, and Danny Rohl, sparking discussions among football enthusiasts nationwide.
