Liverpool has reportedly renewed their interest in Real Madrid's star player, Rodrygo. Arne Slot's team have been busy in the transfer window, keen to strengthen their squad as they prepare to defend their Premier League title.

Florian Wirtz set a new British transfer record when he moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool, and Jeremie Frimpong also made the switch from Die Werkself. Milos Kerkez joined from Premier League rivals Bournemouth, having established himself as one of Europe's most promising left-backs.

The Reds have now set their sights on a new number nine for this summer, with Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak topping their target list. An approach was made to Newcastle for Isak on Tuesday, with the view to a stunning $161 million (£120 million) move.

Liverpool is ramping up its efforts to secure the Swedish international, but face a challenging task to tempt him away from the North East, as Newcastle United remains firm that he is not for sale.

Meanwhile, Luis Diaz's future hangs in the balance as Bayern Munich steps up its pursuit of the Colombian. Consequently, rumors have surfaced that the Reds are seeking to bolster their wide positions.

Reports claim that Liverpool has formally expressed interest in Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, although no official offer has been tabled yet.

The Reds are reportedly fond of the 24 year old, who has been surrounded by rumors regarding his future at Madrid.

Despite not being a regular in Xabi Alonso's first-team, with Arda Guler often getting the nod during their Club World Cup run, Rodrygo's talent hasn't gone unnoticed.

Arsenal has shown interest in the forward, but Liverpool is also said to be keen on him. Yet, Liverpool's previous attempt to secure the Brazilian's signature was unsuccessful, even with Jurgen Klopp personally stepping in.

"We didn't close the deal because I didn't want to. I wanted to stay at Santos even though the offer was very good," Rodrygo revealed about the botched 2017 transfer.

"The pathway they promised me would also have been very good for my career.

"I was going to finish my studies in England to prepare for European football. It had always been my dream to play in Europe. Everything was very good, but my desire spoke louder.

"I wanted to stay at Santos and make a bit of history at the club. And that's what happened: I was able to fulfil my dream of playing for Santos. But it's true, I almost went to Liverpool."
