It was a mixed night for Liverpool's players on international duty on Sunday, but Arne Slot will no doubt have been pleased to see Cody Gakpo get on the scoresheet for his country once again.
Gakpo has netted just once in his last eight appearances for his club, but scored three times in two games during the international break. After his brace against Malta last week, Gakpo drove home a brilliant strike from distance as the Netherlands beat Finland 4-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Amsterdam.
He wasn't the only Liverpool player to get on the scoresheet during the game, as Virgil van Dijk also netted, and generally put in a much more polished performance than the one he produced against Malta.
Ryan Gravenberch, however, had a less memorable night, as he was substituted at half-time and conceded afterwards that he had a slight fitness concern.
"It was partly fitness related," Gravenberch said of his withdrawal. "The season is long, so it was a precaution. I'm feeling good, and I have the coach's confidence."
Gravenberch will be assessed upon his return to Liverpool, ahead of Sunday's clash with Manchester United at Anfield.
Jeremie Frimpong, who faced criticism for his lack of an end product in his performance against Malta, was an unused substitute against Finland.
Elsewhere, Andy Robertson captained Scotland to a 2-1 win over Belarus and grabbed the assist for what turned out to be the game's decisive goal, scored by Scott McTominay.
But the Reds' vice-skipper made it clear after the game that he was not happy with his side's performance on the night.
"It doesn't feel good. It doesn't exactly feel like a win at the minute," Robertson said. "The performance was nowhere near the standard that we need it to be.
"The only positive is that we got three points.
"At the start of the week, we would have taken six points, and I think in time when we meet back up in November and see the position we're in, we'll see that positive, but walking off the pitch tonight didn't feel good."
Scotland manager Steve Clarke echoed Robertson's words, saying it was the most disappointed he'd been in his 72 games in charge of the national team.
Meanwhile, Liverpool loanee Kostas Tsimikas, who scored in Greece's loss to Scotland last week, tasted defeat once more on Sunday as Denmark cruised to a 3-1 win.
