Arsenal have been one of several clubs linked with a summer move for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali who faces an uncertain future in the North East
Arsenal-linked Sandro Tonali has reportedly been offered to Spanish giants Real Madrid. The Newcastle United midfielder faces an uncertain future at St James' Park.
Colleagues at ChronicleLive report that the Magpies are relaxed over Tonali’s future at Newcastle. The 25-year-old has a contract that runs until 2029, with the option for another year.
But the Italian continues to be linked with a move away from the North East as Eddie Howe's side endure a disappointing season. Howe's men currently sit 12th in the Premier League table and are out of Europe and the FA Cup. That has only increased speculation that Tonali could leave, with Manchester United, Manchester City and the Gunners among those linked.
And reports in Spanish newspaper Diario AS claim that Real have now joined the list of clubs interested. However, they state that other options would have to be ruled out before Los Blancos make a move.

It has previously been claimed that Real had sent a scout to Newcastle to watch Tonali in action. But it is claimed that the former AC Milan star is not top of their shortlist.
Real having other priorities will be music to Arsenal's ears if they plan to pursue a deal for Tonali this summer. Further encouragement has been offered after news on Tuesday from Newcastle chief executive David Hopkinson, who admitted the club will have to be open for business for their players.
The CEO referenced Alexander Isak's sale to Liverpool last summer as an example of how the Magpies could sell their best players for the right price.
Speaking as the club’s accounts for the last financial year were released, he said: “We haven’t got an overall strategy with regards to [moving] players out. We think through what players might or might not want to do this summer.
"But if an Isak-like scenario presents itself again, any player under contract is going to leave on our terms and we’re going to maximise the opportunity that might represent for the club. That absolutely does (mean extracting the maximum price).
“For me, Isak was a good sale (in terms of getting a British record fee). I wasn’t here for the Isak situation, so I don’t want to comment on something I didn’t see first-hand.
"What I do know is that players that leave this club will need to do so on our terms.”
