Enzo Fernandez has caused quite a stir with his comments this week regarding Chelsea's model, as well as openly flirting with a move to Real Madrid
Surely it will be an awkward reunion for Enzo Fernandez when he returns to Cobham this week. It is hard to imagine yourself in a Chelsea training session but surely there will be some level of awkwardness given Fernandez's comments over the last week or so.
Everywhere you look, there seems to be fresh quotes from the Argentine. Fernandez and his Blues colleague Marc Cucurella have recently berated the club's ownership - and, if that is the way they feel, they have every right to do that. However, Fernandez flirting with a move to Real Madrid has not gone down well among supporters.
It is no secret Los Blancos hold an interest in Fernandez. Madrid-based press have been reporting for a while about the 15-time European champions being keen on the Argentina international, as is so often the case when the Spanish giants want a piece of business done.

Sources told football.london just last month that Chelsea expect Fernandez to be at Stamford Bridge for a very long time, though recent comments made by the £107million signing have cast doubt over his future in west London. There is a feeling Fernandez is no longer considered 'untouchable', as the likes of Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo still are.
Fernandez has made no secret of his desire to one day live in Madrid, stating the Spanish capital reminds him of Buenos Aires, the Argentine city where he grew up coming through the academy at River Plate. To have such ambition is fine; Real Madrid are the biggest football club in the world, but to make these comments while his team needs him focused for a crucial conclusion to the season seems selfish.
Cucurella's comments about his future have hit Chelsea less hard. The Spaniard did flirt with a potential return to Barcelona, but he caveated by saying he was "very happy" at the Blues and any return to his former club would likely be a few years down the line.
That is how you conduct yourself when asked about your future at this point in the season, not leaving the door wide open ahead of the summer transfer window. Especially when you are vice-captain.
It will be interesting to see how Liam Rosenior deals with this. One of the numerous reasons Chelsea put their faith in the 41-year-old in January was to do with his man-management skills - and this will undoubtedly be his toughest test yet at Stamford Bridge.
A vice-captain is supposed to be an example to the rest of the squad and Fernandez's actions have hardly been that. Whether or not he strips him of the vice-captaincy - which, with Reece James still out injured is more relevant now than ever - remains to be seen. Rosenior may just want to draw a line under it all and focus on the task ahead. Friday morning's press conference will be intriguing.
If you are going to make this much noise about Madrid, while being contracted at Chelsea for another six years, then he needs to be shown the door. Chelsea supporters won't stand for it, and nor should they. Chelsea are too big to be considered a stepping stone.

Bobby has been reporting on Chelsea since May 2022. In that time, he has been front and centre in perhaps the club's most turbulent time with Roman Abramovich forced to sell, with Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital buying the Blues. Bobby is a regular at press conferences and matches, where he speaks to Liam Rosenior and numerous Chelsea players.
