At a time when Thomas Frank is coming under a lot of criticism, one of Tottenham’s most senior players has leapt to the defence of the Dane.
Tottenham fans booed Thomas Frank and the players following the 0-0 draw with Brentford, and it was not the first time that has happened this season.
The Spurs faithful are exasperated with the team’s conservative style of play after watching their side consistently struggle to create chances.
Frank remains confident that Tottenham will click into gear as an attacking force, but the 52-year-old certainly has a lot of work to do to win over the supporters.
Guglielmo Vicario praises Tottenham boss Thomas Frank
Vicario has now leapt to the defence of his head coach, speaking very highly of his man-management style.
The 29-year-old insisted that the former Brentford boss is a fantastic person who has built a strong connection with the Spurs squad.
Vicario said (as relayed by Gianluca di Marzio): “He [Frank] places a lot of emphasis on developing human resources and interpersonal relationships with players.
“He creates a close and intimate connection with his players to try to make them feel an integral part of what will later become his football on the pitch. Before being a coach, I believe Thomas Frank is first-rate as a person.”
The Tottenham number one admitted that he has always wanted to play in Europe’s premier club competition, and is loving the opportunity to do that for the first time in his career.
When asked about experiencing the Champions League, the former Empoli man responded: “When I moved here, getting there was a goal I set for myself. The music, the vibes that all the stadiums give you are something unique.”
However, according to various reports, Vicario’s long-term future at Tottenham is far from secure, with the Lilywhites thought to be on the lookout for potential replacements.
