Arsenal transfer target Silas Andersen has got the backing of Hacken sporting director over comments made on January links
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Danish starlet Silas Andersen, and after the player opened up on the move, his BK Häcken director has since responded to the defensive midfielder’s comments on the link.
The 21-year-old has reportedly been scouted by the Gunners as they look to strengthen for the future. Christian Norgaard came in to replace Jorginho in the summer, but a long-term replacement for the number six role is a desired profile at the club, football.london understands.
As per Fotboll Skanalen, Andersen’s comments on the links have been published. “I don’t know,” he said. “I’ll let my agent work on it, I don’t know much.”
He added: “It’s [Arsenal] a big club. I would be happy. There is a lot of interest. Now people have to make a move, but we’ll see.
“I have no idea [about a January move]. It’s something I need to talk to Martin [Ericsson, director of football] and Erik [Friberg, sports director] about it.”
Ericsson has also been contacted by Fotboll Skanalen to ask for his take on the links. However, the club’s director of football has not dismissed the idea nor did he feel there was anything surprising about Andersen’s happiness to be linked with the likes of Arsenal.
“It’s quite reasonable. He’s a young player who is doing very well and who is of great interest. It would be strange if he were to say much else,” he said.
“With that said, I think he’s doing very well. He’s here both mentally and physically and pushes every day in training and matches.
“As long as he is, I don’t feel worried at all. Then we’ll see what happens in the winter.”
According to CIES, Andersen has a valuation between £4.6million and £5.3million; however, Ericsson was giving very little away when it came to what they would expect from a price point, but hinted it could be more than what some expect.
“We’ll see. Everything has to be right. For us, he’s a very important and high-profile player. So, it’s clear that something extra is needed. Exactly what that means is difficult to assess now.”
