Igor Tudor delivered a passionate message ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Liverpool, with the Spurs boss making his feelings clear during a fiery press conference.

The situation Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in requires big characters and a strong mentality if they are to pull through.

Thus far, that has been lacking from this group, who have failed to step up on several occasions this season.

A better display than what was on show against Atletico Madrid is what the fans and their manager will demand when they take to the field against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Tottenham boss Igor Tudor delivers blunt message before Liverpool fixture

Spurs’ destiny is in their hands, and it is up to them to turn things around if they are to escape the dire situation they find themselves in.

That is exactly the message interim boss Igor Tudor says he has been trying to get across to his players.

Speaking to football.london in his pre-Liverpool press conference, the Tottenham boss delivered a passionate message about mentality and how players must respond to adversity.

He said, “Tough, for sure. Not just because of last game, but because of the period and the past. Not easy situation, not an easy moment and from other side a big challenge to change things. Like everything in life, you can choose how to see the situation. So, you can stay and cry or you can fight. You can be the victim or you can say I can change something. This is the message I want to start and what I told to the players.

“Everyone speaking, everyone has opinions and the life is always how you see it. The bottle is always half empty or half full. Here there is nothing full, there is a lot of empty things but difficult moments do not last forever. It will pass and I believe the players who will take this as a challenge, as an opportunity will stand up with the courage to change things. After this period they will become better people and better players.”

Spurs mentality questioned as Igor Tudor sends strong message

Tudor also addressed the mindset inside the dressing room, insisting that the players must stop seeing themselves as victims and instead take responsibility for the situation.

Speaking to ahead of the Liverpool clash, the Tottenham boss admitted that much of his work behind the scenes has focused on psychology and encouraging players to show courage during difficult moments.

He added: “So, in tough moments it is always about that, it is always about us. In the last period, a lot of things about what is the club, the problems, no one can do nothing and this like victimism, like we were victims.

“I said this morning to the players totally opposite things. We are the team and we are the staff. It is all about us. All the bullsh**, all the other things are bullsh** and sorry to use this word, but it is on us.

“You know, I do every day this work. Psychology work. It is important also to give the courage to the team-mates. Some of them they cannot manage, for sure. Somewhere you arrive and you can help them. My goal is to find if I can help to do 18 players out of 20, 15?

“I do not know how much? Sometimes you cannot do anything, but most of the time you can do even small changes. Small help, you know, you can do it, but also it is what I always like to say to the players, do not be a victim. Do not think it is not about me.

“You know that can be the problem more than all these things about Tottenham and club, you know, like magic on the club, like bad black magic and these other bullsh***, you know. So this is about what I want to send a message.”
