Tottenham set to hire sports psychologist to help mentally drained players

The Telegraph have now revealed that Spurs are now advertising for the role of a new club psychologist to help their mentally drained players deal with the pressure of a relegation battle.

Many of Tottenham’s stars have admitted that they are struggling with their own form and the team’s poor results, and the club have now identified the need to work on the players’ minds and instil some confidence in the squad.

Describing the role, Tottenham’s advert says: “Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is committed to building a world-class performance environment for our Men’s First Team. As part of this ambition, we are seeking an outstanding Performance Psychologist to join our Performance Team. This is a high-impact role embedded within the Men’s First Team environment at Hotspur Way.

“Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will lead the delivery of evidence-based psychological support to elite professional players. The role encompasses individual player support, systemic work across the coaching and performance staff, and the ongoing development of a psychologically informed performance culture throughout the team.

“This role demands a practitioner who is credible, discreet, and highly effective in a Premier League environment, capable of building trust with players and coaches while operating with the professional rigor expected at the highest level of the game.”

De Zerbi has already warned Spurs players about their mentality

Tottenham hearts were broken by Brighton’s late equaliser last Saturday, with the players looking distraught at the final whistle.

However, the Spurs head coach sent a clear message to his squad on what he expects them to do following the setback.

In his post-match press conference, De Zerbi warned that Spurs players who show up to training sad will be sent home, making it clear that he wants to see them smiling and enjoying their football.
