Steven Gerrard says it has been a pleasure to watch Rangers' resurgence under "phenomenal" Danny Rohl from a distance — and now he's seeking his own comeback.

The Reds legend insists he is "more ready than ever" to return to management now his family has moved back to the United Kingdom. There's even speculation he could become Liverpool's manager on a temporary basis, with current boss Arne Slot struggling at Anfield. Gerrard spoke about Slot's future at Liverpool during an appearance on talkSPORT on Tuesday.

Former Rangers manager Gerrard dramatically withdrew from discussions to return to the dugout in October following Russell Martin's dismissal at Ibrox, citing concerns over the timing of the appointment.

At that stage, Gerrard, along with his wife Alex and his children, remained settled in Bahrain after his spell at Al-Ettifaq, and the position instead went to Rohl, who has hauled Gers back from the brink into the midst of an exciting three-way title battle with Hearts and Celtic.

Gerrard now resides in the United Kingdom once more and hinted he is readier than ever to return to management should the appropriate opportunity present itself.

While he is pragmatic enough to recognize that Rangers' position might not become available again anytime soon, that has not prevented him from enjoying their impressive revival under Rohl.

Gerrard, speaking live on talkSPORT to Ibrox legend Ally McCoist and Gabby Agbonlahor, said: "He (Rohl) has been phenomenal. What was it, 13 points off the top? What a job.

"He's come in, he's said all the right things, he's tweaked things on the pitch, and his January signings have been immaculate.

"How good is it, Ally, when you win on a Saturday? You're ready for your roast dinner on a Sunday, then you watch the others, and the pressure is all on them. It's brilliant, isn't it?"

Gerrard was subsequently questioned about his own future, revealing that his family had returned to the United Kingdom after their time in Bahrain. Currently working predominantly as a pundit for TNT Sports, he maintains that he is in no hurry to return to management.

However, should the right opportunity present itself for the former Ibrox and Aston Villa boss, he insists he won't be turning it down.

"I'm more ready than I have been," Gerrard said. "My family are back home at Liverpool, kids are all settled at school, I'm more ready than I have been, I'm all ears.

"But at the same time, I'm not chasing, I'm not searching, I'm not desperate, I'm in a good place, work-life balance is fantastic at the moment, but if the right opportunity comes, I'm all ears to listen to that.

"I'm having a fantastic time at TNT with Ally and the boys and the girls, really enjoying it, covering some good games, big games, I'm excited, taking my little lad to watch the next couple of Champions League games and yeah, in a really good place and I'm ready for opportunities, if not I'm happy with the work-life balance, life's good, no complaints at all."
