Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Sunderland could prove costly, with fresh AI projections from a supercomputer now painting a worrying picture for where their Premier League season may end.
Tottenham Hotspur failed to take advantage of the golden opportunity afforded to them this gameweek in the Premier League.
A victory over Sunderland on Sunday would have seen the Lilywhites climb as high as 15th in the Premier League table, bolstering their chances of avoiding relegation.
However, the worst happened for Spurs, who remain winless in their last 14 league encounters this season and are now firmly rooted in the bottom three after West Ham United secured a 4-0 win over Wolves and leapfrogged Tottenham into 17th.

Tottenham predicted 18th as Opta AI reveals final Premier League table
Relegation is now very much a real possibility for Spurs this season, who have just six games to turn their fortunes around.
Given their struggles this year, it is increasingly difficult to see where Tottenham will get their next win from. Opta’s Supercomputer has now crunched the numbers and predicted how the Premier League table will look at the end of the season.
Spurs have long been predicted to just about avoid the drop this campaign, but after their defeat to Sunderland, their fortunes have changed drastically.
According to the AI’s forecast, Tottenham are now predicted to finish in 18th place this season, which would seal their relegation fate and guarantee safety for West Ham United. Spurs are expected to finish on 37 points, a single point behind their London rivals, West Ham.
| Place | Team | Points |
| 15 | Leeds | 41.84 |
| 16 | Forest | 40.80 |
| 17 | West Ham | 38.40 |
| 18 | Tottenham | 37.18 |
Spurs must chase points quickly to avoid relegation
While the AI has given its own forecast, there is still hope for Tottenham to beat the drop, but they need to get points on the board.
There were glimpses of a much better display under De Zerbi in the game against Sunderland, with Spurs looking stronger defensively and creating a few good chances.
If they can build on those performances, then they could well grab a win, which could see momentum shift to their side.
From the predictions, getting close to 40 points will more or less guarantee safety, meaning Spurs need to get at least ten points from their next six games.
