Supercomputer predicts where Tottenham will finish in Premier League after Man United draw

1 hour ago 1

Opta’s Supercomputer has updated its prediction table after the latest round of Premier League results, which included Tottenham playing out a 2-2 draw against Man United.

It seemed like Tottenham were set to register their first Premier League win at home since the opening day of the season when Richarlison guided Wilson Odobert’s curled effort into the back of the net on 91 minutes.

However, there was to be a sting in the tail, with Matthijs De Ligt heading in an equaliser from a corner kick on 96 minutes to salvage a point for the away side.

It was uncharacteristically poor defending from a set-piece by Thomas Frank’s men, who left the Dutchman unmarked at the far post.

Opta predicts where Tottenham will finish in the Premier League table

Spurs Web has been keeping a close track of Opta’s predictions since the start of the season, in what has been an extremely unpredictable campaign so far.

Following the 2-1 loss to Chelsea a little over a week ago, Opta’s Supercomputer predicted that Tottenham would finish in eleventh place.

The 2-2 draw against Ruben Amorim’s side has seen the data analysis site revise its predictions slightly.

Opta’s algorithm now has the Lilywhites finishing in 10th place, with an expected points tally of 54.97.

Interestingly, the website has Man United finishing three places above Spurs in seventh place with an expected tally of 56.37 points.

Spurs remain rank outsiders for a top-six finish

Opta’s Supercomputer believes that the North London club are extremely unlikely to qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League via the Premier League.

Tottenham have been handed just a 9.62 per cent chance of qualifying for Europe’s Premier club competition, while they have been given a 16.5 per cent chance of finishing within the Europa League spots.

The supercomputer thus predicts a hard first season for Frank at N17, and it is hard to disagree with that prediction unless Spurs’ performances at home improve.
