Scotland head coach Steve Clarke says the performance level against Belarus on Monday night is irrelevant, as long as his side secure three points.

Belarus lost 5-1 to Greece in their opening World Cup qualifier but Clarke says he would take a one-goal win as the Scots look to build on the positivity of a goalless draw against Denmark.

"We expect a tough night, they're a competent side," Clarke said.

"I was a little bit surprised that they lost by the margin that they lost in Greece, although I know the Greeks are a good side.

"Take the win if we can get it, however it comes. If it's by one goal, if it's by two goals, whatever. First of all, we need to make sure that we get the win."

Clarke declared everyone in the squad available, suggesting there will be "one or two" changes to the starting line-up.

And he admitted the squad is sufficiently strong that altering the starting XI does not necessarily make it weaker.

"I looked at my bench the other night and I was happy," he said.

"When I'm turning to my bench for people to go on to the pitch to help us to see that game out, I was really happy with what my options were.

"Obviously, I've got the same options going into this game to make the changes that I need to make.

"It was a big effort against the Danes. The players were tired after the game, but tired in March is different from tired at the start of the season when they don't have as many minutes on their legs."

John McGinn spoke about the need for Scotland to get back to being "horrible" to play against, as they showed in their opening match of qualifying.

"Horrible in a good way," agreed Clarke. "Horrible in that they make it really difficult for the opposition, they work ever so hard when we don't have the ball.

"You have to do that in football, it's nice to do the bits that catch the attention, the good shots, the good play.

"But the basics, the nuts and bolts of football are about doing the dirty stuff, the stuff where you have to do your hard yards off the ball.

"If we can do that across the six games, then I think we can get enough points."
