Taylor Swift new album as star accused of mocking Trent Alexander-Arnold transfer

2 hours ago 2

Taylor Swift and Trent Alexander-Arnold may not have much in common, but the former Liverpool star's transfer to Real Madrid appears to have caught the attention of the singer.

Alexander-Arnold became a figure of controversy in Merseyside when he let his Liverpool contract run down to join the Spanish team. The former vice-captain, who was born and raised in the Liverpool area, faced jeers in his last appearances for the Premier League team, and now American singer Taylor Swift appears to have shared her thoughts on the matter.

In an unexpected twist, the American megastar seems to allude to the contentious transfer in her latest album - 'The Life of a Showgirl' - which was released on Friday, particularly in the lyrics of the song 'Wi$h Li$t.'

In the song, Taylor muses about the materialistic desires that those in the limelight aspire to - including, oddly enough for an American pop icon, a "contract with Real Madrid."

"LIVERPOOL SWIFTIES do not listen to track 8 of the new Taylor swift album she brings up a sensitive topic for you guys," one fan joked on social media.

"Taylor Swift shading Trent Alexander-Arnold wasn't on my 2025 bingo card," a second fan said.

As a third shared, with a meme of a man pointing at himself: "Trent listening to this new Taylor Swift album!"

"Even Taylor Swift got involved with the Trent saga ffs," a fourth fumed.

And another added: "There's no way I've just heard a Trent Alexander Arnold reference in the new Taylor Swift album... My heads on Mars!"

While one fan exclaimed: "Taylor swift sang about Trent and it's so wild!"

In a previous interview, Alexander-Arnold confessed to being a fan of Swift, known as a 'Swiftie'.

When asked about his favorite track from the pop superstar, the England international responded: "I actually do, you know, Anti-Hero, I watch TikToks and it's big on TikTok, so that's caught on in my brain, so I listen to that."

However, when prompted to sing a few lines, he declined, stating: "I'm not singing it, no way!"

The Liverpool star hasn't had the smoothest start under the Spanish sun, currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained just five minutes into a Champions League match.

Now, he faces a tight deadline to regain fitness for Madrid's visit to Anfield in early November.

Madrid-based sports daily Marca reports that the expectation is for Alexander-Arnold to be back in action post-international break. In the interim, the paper reveals that head coach Xabi Alonso has promoted David Jimenez to the first team.

Jimenez was benched for La Liga fixtures against Espanyol and Levante, but remained an unused substitute.
