Sverre Nypan completed a loan move to Middlesbrough this week and it was a switch that was painstakingly analysed by Manchester City and the player

Sverre Nypan was never likely to rush into his loan exit.
The highly-rated Manchester City midfielder this week completed a move to Championship club Middlesbrough, who won a hotly-contested race for his signature.
Nypan only arrived at the Etihad a month ago, but was always destined to leave on loan this summer to continue his development.
City wanted the right move to the right club, and Nypan himself was diligent in the decision making.
The 18-year-old did not rush into joining City, having had interest from all Europe's top clubs over the past 12 months. The teenager, and those close to him, wanted to make sure the next move in his burgeoning career was the right one having decided to leave Norwegian side Rosenborg, where he made his debut as a 15-year-old.
City won that race and now Boro have won the next. The Riverside club have forged a reputation in recent seasons for helping develop young talent having taken Ben Doak from Liverpool last term and Cameron Archer from Aston Villa a couple of years before.
City also have a close relationship with Boro with Micah Hamilton, Morgan Rogers and Zack Steffen all heading to the north east in recent years, while Boro's chief executive Neil Bausor is friends with Brian Marwood, City Group's managing director of global football.
The Blues wanted Nypan to experience Championship football, a level they feel is the right step between the Norwegian top flight and the Premier League.
The player too, was keen to remain in England this season to adapt to the style of football and to settle in the country. This is the first time Nypan has lived away from home and the feeling from the player and those close to him was that staying in England would offer the best chance of settling on and off the pitch.
There was interest from top tier clubs abroad, including Girona and Lyon, while other Championship sides were also keen, but City and the player feel Boro is the best fit for the next phase of his career.
"That (a loan) was the plan," said Nypan, speaking to Boro's club media after sealing his move. "Of course getting into the first team (at City) is really, really difficult so you need to play games when you are my age.
"So hopefully I can come to Middlesbrough and help the team as much as possible and I can't wait to get into the team and get to know the players."
Nypan has spent the past few weeks getting to know City. He arrived after the Club World Cup and was not part of the travelling squad who played Palermo in the sole pre-season friendly.
Instead he remained in Manchester, meeting those behind the scenes, adapting to his new surroundings and settling into training.
"Mostly it has been meeting people and players and stuff," he said of his time with City so far.
"I trained a little bit, not as much games, but I haven't got that use to English football yet but that is why I have moved on loan to Middlesbrough.
"You can get used to English football, it is a bit different to Norwegian football so that is perfect and hopefully I can just learn as much as possible in the next year."
The hope is that learning curve will help Nypan transition into the senior squad at City. Pep Guardiola views him as a first team player and there are high hopes for the midfielder.
City emerged as the main contenders for his signature earlier this summer and Nypan visited several clubs before deciding on his next move, with most European heavyweights keen on landing the midfielder.
"It was a lot of speculation," Nypan admitted. "Everybody is writing about everything so you cant really keep anything private anymore but that is how it is. It got a lot of hype, especially when the big teams came in and one team want you and then a rival team also want you.
"But when City came it was really really nice plan and also it is a fantastic club. I am super, super grateful for the opportunity they have given me. I am really happy with it."
