Max Dowman's history-making goal in Arsenal's Premier League victory over Everton has seen the teenager receive many messages of support on social media

Thierry Henry has joined in on heaping praise to Max Dowman after the Arsenal talent became the youngest scorer in Premier League history aged 16 years and 73 days in the 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday.

The Gunners were forced to wait until the 89th minute to net past the Toffees with Viktor Gyokeres coming off the bench to convert into the empty net.

And in the seventh minute of injury-time, Dowman confirmed the three points with his first goal for the club.

After Jordan Pickford went up for a corner, the teenager beat two Everton players before making it 2-0.

"Yesterday he was training in the last few days and I had a gut feeling that it was a moment for him," Mikel Arteta said.

"Probably because he doesn't seem to be faced by the occasion or the moment or the context or the opponent. He just plays so naturally.

"He makes decisions to make things happen and what he delivered was incredible."

Arsenal legend Henry joined Arteta in applauding Dowman's impact against Everton. Sharing the footage of his history-making goal on his Instagram story and wrote: "PURE JOY".

Dowman took to social media himself to give his own reaction, sharing pictures of the celebrations on his Instagram page, along with a caption reading: "A night I'll never forget."

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale commented: "Super max," alongside a red heart emoji.

Former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand wrote: “Levels” along with a graph emoji. Another former England man in John Terry also responded with a clapping and football emoji.

Other former Gunners, such as Reiss Nelson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, congratulated the teenager.
