Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has paid tribute to Bukayo Saka after the Gunners star racked up his 100th goal contribution in his 200th appearance for the club. Saka scored from the penalty spot to secure Arsenal's win against West Ham and help his side go top of the Premier League.
The duo appear to have a tight-knit relationship, with World Cup winner Henry even sharing text messages with the Arsenal academy product. The 22-year-old followed in his mentor's footsteps to become the second Arsenal player to bag a goal when racking up a double century of appearances.
"From the ACADEMY to the EMIRATES," Henry posted on Instagram "From your DEBUT to 200 PL GAMES, with 55 GOALS and 45 ASSISTS!!!
"KEEP on MOVING BUKAYO!!!!!! So PROUD of YOU."
Saka made his way into the Arsenal icon's comments to post his response. "Grateful," he said, accompanied by a praying hands emoji and a red heart emoji.
It was not the pair's first exchange of the weekend either. Following Arsenal's win over the Irons, Saka revealed that Henry had texted him an important reminder.
Instead of lavishing Saka in praise at that stage, he reinforced the importance of the clash against West Ham. The north London side had lost in successive meetings against the Hammers at the Emirates before Saturday.
Saka commented on Henry's continued impact when asked about replicating the legend's milestone. "Thierry messaged me this morning to remind we lost the last two games to West Ham at home," Saka said.
"He is always pushing me. I am really happy to have my name with his records."

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was equally complimentary of Saka's journey. The Spaniard heaped praise on his side's talisman after going top of the table.
"It has been an incredible journey together," Arteta said. "The way he has done it is special.
"He is loved by everybody and the numbers he is creating are incredible at his age - so much more to come from him."
