Dejan Kulusevski has linked up with the Sweden camp, even though he has been ruled out of his nation’s World Cup playoffs, and there has been an interesting update regarding the Tottenham man.
Sweden boss Graham Potter sounded optimistic about Kulusevski’s recovery last month, but his optimism proved misplaced, with the attacking midfielder ruled out of the upcoming Playoff semifinal against Ukraine.
To make matters worse, it has emerged over recent days that the Tottenham star’s rehabilitation is not progressing as initially hoped.
It was reported a couple of days ago that Kulusevski will meet with his international teammates in Spain ahead of their big clash this evening, and there has now been an update from the camp about the 25-year-old.

Dejan Kulusevski eases Tottenham fears after limping reports
According to SportBladet, the Tottenham man did show up to meet his teammates and the coaching staff during Wednesday’s training session ahead of the crunch semifinal.
The outlet reveals that the former Juventus man was seen limping at the training ground, as he had a conversation with Potter for several minutes.
Fortunately, Kulusevski took to Instagram to ease Spurs fears. He said: “Just to clarify things. I am limping because I had a small intervention in the knee two weeks ago. Went in and took out what not suppose to be there. Knee is great now. Thanks for all the support God is the greatest, always.”
According to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham are waiting for the pain to subside in Kulusevski’s knee before they step up his rehabilitation, with the player’s return date still unclear.
Tottenham fans react to latest Kulusevski update
Spurs fans were quick to take to social media to react to Kulusevski’s statement. One supporter said: ‘Wow so all the doctors on here now can stop there meltdown about him never coming back then.’
Another added: ‘Ok. Then everything is alright and halleluja except he hasn’t played football for nearly a year.’
Some Spurs fans still fear the worst, both on Kulusevski and Tottenham’s relegation situation: ‘So will he play in the championship next season to build fitness?’
A fourth fan simply moaned: ‘The club never tell us anything.’ Another said: ‘Good that the club keeps fans informed of these things, isn’t it? Obviously increases speculation. He will hardly stay for championship football, although anyone signing him would be taking a huge risk.’
It appears that is a sentiment on the mind of a lot of Spurs fans: ‘Frustrates me that it takes Kulu to give us this update & not anyone at Tottenham! It’s crystal clear he won’t play this season and will work during now & next season to be the best he can be, fingers crossed. Why not come out & say that to end speculation & misplaced optimism.’
Another Tottenham supporter said: ‘How we have missed this guy! Hope he stays with us next season and is fighting fit.’
At least some fans are still full of hope: ‘This is much better news from Deki. Hope this aids a speedy recovery now.’
Spurs may receive quadriple injury boost after the international break
While Kulusevski may not be particularly close to a return, four other senior Spurs stars may soon be back in action after multiple months on the sidelines.
According to reports, Mohammed Kudus, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies and Yves Bissouma would return to action after the international break.
Their returns could prove crucial for the Lilywhites as they fight to preserve their Premier League status with seven league games left.
