The man who scored Tottenham’s winner at the Molineux Stadium, Joao Palhinha, has made an honest admission after the Lilywhites’ first league win in 2026.
After having two points snatched away from them in stoppage time against Brighton last week, Roberto De Zerbi’s men desperately needed a win against Wolves to keep their survival hopes alive.
The West Midlands side certainly did not make it easy for the North London club, who struggled to break down the bottom-of-the-table side for large parts of the game.
The winner eventually arrived from substitute Palhinha on 82 minutes, much to the relief of everyone at Spurs, who remain in touching distance of 17th placed West Ham heading into the final four matches of the season.

Joao Palhinha hopeful win changes things for Tottenham ahead of ‘four finals’
The 30-year-old confessed that the win against Wolves meant much more than just three points for Tottenham, who finally managed to end their 15-game winless streak in the league.
Palhinha is hopeful that finally getting that monkey off the back can give the squad the motivation they need ahead of their final four matches.
Speaking after Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Wolves, the midfielder told BBC Sport: “Hopefully it changes something. This victory is much more than that for me, the fans, and the whole club, it’s not a normal season that we have been living until today. We all have a responsibility in this season.”
“We have four finals [remaining]. We need to do our jobs. Hopefully this win can change things, give us a bit more motivation as well as it’s been a long time without victories.”
Palhinha promises fans that Spurs players will ‘give everything’ to achieve survival
The win was not enough to take Tottenham out of the drop zone as West Ham scored a stoppage-time winner against Everton to remain two points ahead of their London rivals.
The Portugal international remarked that he and his teammates will focus on what is in their power and assured Spurs fans that they will give everything to ensure the club remain in the Premier League.
Palhinha added: “What we can control right now is doing our job until the end of the season and keeping the club where it belongs, which is the Premier League.
“We will give everything we have until the end of the season because it means a lot for us to keep [Tottenham] in the Premier League.”
