Thomas Frank has spoken to Cristian Romero about outbust against Tottenham hierarchy

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has now addressed the latest outburst from Cristian Romero aimed at the club’s higher-ups.

It has been far from a quiet few days for Tottenham Hotspur following their 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League.

At full-time, several Spurs players were involved in a confrontation with the travelling supporters, who were quick to make their feelings known with further boos aimed at Thomas Frank.

Club captain Cristian Romero also made his feelings clear in a post-match message on social media, where he called out the club’s hierarchy, stating they have failed to take responsibility for issues around the club.

Thomas Frank has since faced the media ahead of Spurs’ FA Cup tie with Aston Villa and was asked to respond to the comments made by his captain.

Speaking to football.london, the Tottenham head coach addressed Cristian Romero’s remarks, saying: “I think after Cuti became the captain, he’s done a lot of good things right.

“I said it when I named him the captain that even though he’s an experienced player, he’s tried a lot, he’s still a young leader. And I think a lot of the things he’s done well on and off the pitch I’m happy with.

“I’m actually very happy with his performance last night. I think he was a true captain in many ways throughout the game. Speaking at half-time when we were 2-1 down, keep believing, keep doing the right things.

“But also, when you’re a young leader, sometimes you make a mistake, of course, it’s good to keep it internally. Johan and I had a good conversation with him this morning about everything, which we of course keep internally.”

Spurs must refocus ahead of Aston Villa test

With an FA Cup tie now on the horizon, Tottenham need to turn their attention back to matters on the pitch if they are to get a result against an in-form Aston Villa side.

Frank’s team have already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, while their league form has done little to inspire confidence.

With pressure continuing to build from the stands, an exit on Saturday night would only intensify scrutiny on a manager already under fire.
