Thomas Frank is ready to use Tottenham academy graduate who has never started under him

Thomas Frank is ready to give more opportunities to a Tottenham youngster who has only made one substitute appearance this season.

There has been plenty said and written about Tottenham’s woes upfront this season, with none of the strikers at Thomas Frank’s disposal making the number nine spot their own amidst Dominic Solanke’s injury.

Some have suggested that Randal Kolo Muani may be the one to solve Spurs’ striker issue after the on-loan PSG man put his injury issues behind him.

However, it has now emerged that one forward, who got 10 minutes under his belt against Copenhagen, may be in line for more opportunities.

Tottenham academy graduate has impressed Thomas Frank

This report comes from TEAMtalk, who say that Dane Scarlett may be trusted with more minutes over the coming weeks after impressing Thomas Frank and his coaching staff.

The 21-year-old won a penalty late on against Copenhagen, but Richarlison failed to convert it, with the Brazilian’s effort coming off the crossbar.

It has now been claimed that Tottenham are ready to lean more on Scarlett’s talents after he caught the eye in training.

The outlet also spoke to journalist Dean Jones, who said: “Dane Scarlett could get more chances soon – even in the Premier League. It wouldn’t surprise me.

“He’s definitely rated within the set-up, and they have been giving him plenty of exposure to life around the first team even when not involved actively. He made an impressive impact against Copenhagen and I think we will be seeing more of him over the next couple of months on the back of that.

“It might not be immediately, given their next games are United, Arsenal and PSG. But after that and leading into the new year, I would expect him to start building more minutes to see if he can make a bit of a mark on the team and boost their options and intensity in the final third.

“He’s a confident and capable player. He probably would have scored the penalty that Richarlison missed. There is also an argument that could be made that Spurs will keep him around beyond January, while they will be open to offers for Richarlison.”

Why Scarlett may have to grab his Spurs opportunities instantly

TEAMtalk say that the Tottenham academy graduate may have a short window of opportunity to make his mark.

This is because Spurs are expected to sign a number nine in January, with Fabio Paratici having been told to prioritise bringing a centre-forward and a wide-forward through the door in the upcoming transfer window.

Additionally, Dominic Solanke is now on the mend after his ankle surgery, and it will not be too long before the England international returns to training.
