Thomas Frank makes shock confession about his start to life at Tottenham Hotspur

Thomas Frank has been asked if he is enjoying being the manager of Tottenham Hotspur and his answer may come as a surprise.

It became the norm for Tottenham Hotspur under Mauricio Pochettino to finish in the top four of the Premier League, but this has changed in recent years.

Spurs recorded their worst ever league finish under Ange Postecoglou last season and this season has not been that much better.

Thomas Frank got off to a reasonable start when he arrived in North London, but his team’s performances have been on a downward spiral which has led to poor results.

Thomas Frank is not enjoying his time at Tottenham

Frank usually says exactly what he thinks and he has made a shocking revelation ahead of Tottenham’s upcoming clash with Sunderland.

According to the Spurs manager, he is not enjoying being in charge of the club at this moment in time. However, he remains optimistic this could change in the future, describing the challenge in front of him as a ‘marathon’.

When asked if he is enjoying being the Tottenham manager, Frank told Sky Sports: “So the short answer is no [I’m not enjoying my time].

“When I pull myself out of it and look down, I think what a privilege to be in charge of this fantastic club in a period where it’s a big transition. I think someone told me that we have changed eight leadership guys in the top of the club.

“The transition, there has never been as much in 140 years. There’s a lot of changes, but the potential is huge.

“That’s part of it. I’m looking forward to looking back at it and thinking, what a big learning [experience]. Now I’m enjoying it.”

The Danish boss added: “When you need to put in a big, big shift and it’s not smooth and it’s tough, it’s probably difficult to enjoy it.

“I’ll give you an example. If I run hard, I don’t enjoy that moment. But I know I need to keep my head down and run hard to get through it, to get my fitness up or to win a race, whatever it is.

“We’re in a situation where you need to run hard, to stay in it, to get through it. And then on the other side, when you look back on this spell we think ‘what a learning experience’, that made it so much better for the future.

“It’s definitely a marathon. It definitely seems like it’s one of the little bit more heavy miles I’m on now. But head down and keep going.”

Frank only has a three year contract at Spurs

Although Frank has described his tenure at Tottenham as a marathon, he will only be contracted to the club for two more years by the end of his opening season at the club.

On top of this, the modern game can be brutal and if a manager keeps failing to get results, it is usually only a matter of time until he is shown the door.

The ex-Brentford coach has spoken about transitions in the club, but it is not as if he has walked in during the middle of the campaign as some past managers did.

He needs to focus on turning things around now, or else the chance to do so in the future might never come to fruition.
