Under-pressure Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has addressed concerns regarding his position following a disappointing start to the campaign that has left Spurs languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League standings.

Liverpool heads to north London on Saturday looking to boost its top-four hopes amid what has been a disappointing start to the season. Even amid the recent drama surrounding Mohamed Salah's outburst though, it's Spurs boss Frank who is perhaps the most under pressure this weekend, although he has played down speculation regarding his future.

"I feel supported," he said in his press conference on Friday. "I've done that the whole time. And as I said, also after the game, that hadn't changed my mind. This is not a quick fix. This will take time. That's not to say that we're not going to do everything we can to beat Liverpool. I believe we have a good chance of doing that.

"But this is something where we are building. And I've said it many times. We, of course, first and foremost, are the most critical of myself. So that's one thing. But I think it's fair to say that we are a lot of people in it that need to perform well together. With me in charge, of course, and taking the right decisions."

When questioned about supporter concerns, Frank added: "There will always be fans questioning the coach wherever you are. Then there will be the loyal ones that can see the perspective.

"First of all, I'd say to Spurs fans it's a privilege to be part of this big club. To fulfil that, there's a lot of stages we need to go through," reports Football London.

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has suggested that his old side's home encounter with Liverpool represents a fixture from which Frank must secure maximum points.

Jenas told 10bet: "I think it's going to be huge. I think this is a manager that could be under pressure. I think when there has been no real consistency with the line-ups and the tactics, it's difficult to predict how players are going to perform. I want to see a bit of an improvement in the forward areas too.

"Yes, there are injuries at the football club but they've still got decent players there."

When questioned about the weekend fixture against Liverpool, Jenas simply described it as a "must-win."

Since the beginning of November, Tottenham has managed just three victories across all competitions. This drops to a single triumph when looking solely at Premier League results - a 2-0 success over Brentford.

Frank's squad are now preparing to take on Liverpool who, despite suffering a turbulent opening to the campaign, appears to have discovered some promising momentum in recent outings. Victory would propel the Reds into the top four.

When discussing his weekend opponents, Frank commented: "They're an excellent team, they're the champions. They started very well. They signed fantastic players, Hugo Ekitike, what a season he's having.

"[Alexander] Isak is a top striker, he will come good and [Florian] Wirtz is fantastic but still adapting to the league. [Dominik] Szoboszlai is a beast, he will play tomorrow of course."
