Thomas Frank provides injury update on Dominic Solanke, Tottenham will not sign another striker

Thomas Frank has shed light on whether Dominic Solanke’s latest injury is something that Tottenham need to be concerned about.

Solanke had an impressive start to his Tottenham career after arriving from Bournemouth last year, but he tailed off in the second half of the campaign after picking up a knee injury, which kept him out for a month and a half.

Spurs fans would have been hoping that he could kick on and prove his worth under Thomas Frank this term, but the striker missed the majority of pre-season due to injury.

It was thought that the striker had recovered from that problem as he came off the bench against Burnley and Man City, but the same ankle problem resurfaced, ruling Solanke out of the Bournemouth clash.

Thomas Frank reveals whether Dominic Solanke’s injury is serious for Tottenham

The idea of recurring injuries may give nightmares to Tottenham fans, given what happened with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven last season.

However, Frank has now clarified that with Solanke, it is not a case of a reinjury but simply the problem taking longer to heal than expected.

When asked why the striker’s injury has resurfaced, the Tottenham head coach told Football.London: “Sometimes, you know, we just take a little bit longer time. It’s easier. It’s not like he re-injured it again, so you can say if you have a muscle injury, then you can maybe reinjure it, it’s nothing to do with that.

“It’s not progressing as quickly as we hoped for, but we are still positive that it can be solved in the next two weeks. I’m hopeful he will be back after the international break.”

Thomas Frank has already confirmed that Tottenham will not sign another striker, despite Solanke and Richarlison having injury issues of late.

Creativity is on its way for Frank and Spurs

While Tottenham’s performance against Bournemouth was one to forget, with the home side being lacklustre, Frank will be calm, knowing that his attacking stocks will be boosted.

Xavi Simons was presented to Spurs fans ahead of kick-off, and the Dutchman’s flair and enterprise will undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the side.

Additionally, reports continue to indicate that Tottenham are keen on signing another top-class winger to their squad before the window slams shut on Monday.
