Thomas Frank has revealed that he was interviewed for managerial roles in two of the biggest clubs in the Premier League before he arrived at Tottenham.
The decision to appoint Frank in the summer was not a universally popular one among Spurs fans.
Many Tottenham supporters want Ange Postecoglou to be handed a third season after the club’s Europa League triumph, but the Lilywhites decided to replace the Australian with Frank on the back of his success at Brentford.
However, the Dane has now revealed that Spurs were not the first ‘big six’ club he held talks with.

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank was interviewed by Man United and Chelsea
The Spurs head coach is releasing a new book, and as part of the promotion, he has revealed that he held interviews with both Chelsea and Man United on the same day during the summer of 2024.
United eventually decided to stick with Erik Ten Hag, while the Blues appointed Enzo Maresca, but the Dane admits it was a surreal experience to speak to those clubs just hours apart.
Frank told TV 2 Sport: “Sitting down for interviews with two of the 10 biggest clubs in the world – two hours apart – is pretty unique.”
“I know I didn’t get either of the two jobs, but it was still a huge deal. I remember walking through Battersea Park between the two interviews and thinking: ‘Thomas Frank from Frederiksvaerk – am I really experiencing this?'”
This shows Spurs were not alone in their admiration for Frank
Many pundits have questioned whether Frank is the right fit for Tottenham, due to the team’s style of play and their struggles at home.
However, this revelation by the Spurs boss clearly shows that he was on the radar of many big clubs across the Premier League, given the tactical prowess and man-management he showed at Brentford.
One would thus expect the Tottenham hierarchy to give the 52-year-old time to put his imprint on the squad.
