Thomas Frank reveals how Arteta is helping his relationship with Vinai Venkatesham at Tottenham

Thomas Frank has shed light on his relationship with Tottenham Hotspur CEO Vinai Venkatesham amidst the ongoing speculation about his job.

Given Tottenham’s current position in the Premier League table and the level of performances they have delivered over recent months, it is no surprise that Frank’s job has been the subject of much speculation.

Various managers have been mooted as potential replacements for the Tottenham head coach, but it appears that he will get time to turn things around.

This is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who asserted that Tottenham will back Frank in January and give him the rest of the season before assessing his work in the summer.

Thomas Frank says Vinai Venkatesham understands his journey at Tottenham

The Spurs head coach has seen two of his colleagues, Ruben Amorim and Enzo Maresca, sacked over recent days.

However, Venkatesham famously kept faith in Mikel Arteta for many years during his time at Arsenal, before the Spaniard started to repay that faith.

When asked if the Tottenham CEO‘s experience at Arsenal informs the way he acts at the moment, Frank responded (via Football.London): “Definitely [that has informed the way he acts]. No doubt about that. Plus, he also knows what good looks like and how, unfortunately, it can take time to get up to where good should look like. That’s definitely beneficial because he understands the journey we’re on.

“Vinai is one of the best communicators I ever met. As a CEO, leader, whatever, he is absolutely excellent in that. I think I’m ok, but he is way superior, which I think is crucial internally and externally. He’s calm and takes sensible decisions, two rare abilities in football, but also two absolutely crucial abilities if you want to have success long-term.

“Vinai is crucial for Tottenham to have success in many ways. We have known each other for six months, so we are getting closer and closer and know each other better and better. I would say I’m calm but a tiny bit more emotional at times, so we learn about each other as well. Besides being smart and taking sensible decisions, Vinai also has that huge experience of ten years at Arsenal with how they built.”

Frank reflects on Spurs’ first transfer window without Daniel Levy

This is the first transfer window in nearly two-and-a-half decades that Daniel Levy is not calling the shots at the North London club.

Frank only worked with the former Tottenham chairman for one transfer window, and he has reflected on the impact that the 63-year-old’s exit could have.

When asked about Levy, he said: “My experience is very limited. As I understood, he was the one who was signing off and negotiating the final bit [with transfers]. He will not do that now, that will be more down to Johan [Lange] and Fabio [Paratici] doing that job.

“We have a good recruitment side with the numbers behind it, looking at the players and then taking the right decision. Then it’s down to Johan and Fabio to do the job with the agents and get the deals done. That’s the biggest difference.”
