Three players who will be crucial to Tottenham beating Crystal Palace and why - Opinion

Tottenham Hotspur are in desperate need of a Premier League victory, and three players in particular will be required to make this aspiration a reality.

All eyes are on Thursday night ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s midweek battle with Crystal Palace, and it is a day of the week which the team enjoyed last season.

If lasting memories of the Europa League campaign are not enough to motivate Spurs, perhaps the players will take encouragement from the fact that they defeated Crystal Palace in December.

In fact, this was the last time Tottenham actually won a game in the Premier League, so why not go and do the double over the FA Cup winners?

Well, if this is going to be at all possible, then Spurs will need the help of three players who could make the difference during an all-important night of football.

Mathys Tel will show attacking intent out wide

Xavi Simons delivered a lacklustre showing against Fulham, but Mathys Tel looked far more up for it when he came onto the pitch.

The winger was involved in the build-up to Tottenham’s only goal of the game, laying the ball off to Archie Gray before his cross into the box.

This could be the perfect opportunity for Tel to show Igor Tudor what he can do, and just imagine if he was able to land himself on the scoresheet.

Richarlison will be Tottenham’s main goal threat

Randal Kolo Muani dropped a stinker at Craven Cottage after one good game in the Premier League, and Dominic Solanke’s short run of goalscoring form appears to be over.

This leaves Richarlison, who scored immediately on his return to the Tottenham team and will likely be leading the line against Crystal Palace.

Say what you will about the centre forward, but he is the most prolific goalscorer at Spurs this season, and he could be the one to finally break this dreadful winless streak.

Pedro Porro will deliver crosses into the box

Gray was the player to fire in the crucial cross against Fulham, and Pedro Porro will be looking to do the same, only for a more meaningful goal.

The right-back played three successful crosses on Sunday, but on his day, he is capable of a lot more.

Porro needs to reawaken his creative streak because when he is at his best in attack, Tottenham have a real chance of finding the net due to his creativity.
