Three Tottenham fixtures they must win as Spurs plunged into humiliating relegation fight

Tottenham are in real danger of relegation from the Premier League with three hugely important fixtures left to avoid that disastrous scenario

Tottenham have three must-win Premier League fixtures in their battle to avoid relegation. Following a fifth straight loss, Spurs sit in 16th place, level on points with Nottingham Forest, and just one ahead of West Ham United, who occupy the final bottom three spot.

Crystal Palace beat them 3-1 on Thursday evening, with that coming 24 hours after positive results for their relegation rivals. Forest showed great character to come from behind and draw 2-2 against Manchester City while the Hammers beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage, a stadium where Spurs lost meekly just days earlier.

The Lilywhites can now consider themselves firmly in a relegation dog-fight with Igor Tudor thus far unable to make an imminent impact as interim head coach. Despite losing seven of their last nine games, Spurs' fate is still in their hands with a decent goal difference, considering their predicament, likely to help.

Spurs fans are likely to have a keen eye on West Ham and Forest's upcoming fixtures but ultimately, the onus is on their team to secure positive results from their final nine matches. With all of that being said, football.london has analysed the three fixtures that could prove decisive in Spurs' bid to stay up.

Nottingham Forest (H) - Sunday, March 22

In just over two weeks, Forest head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with it also the final game for both before an extended international break.

Spurs were battered 3-0 in the reverse fixture at the City Ground and must avoid that outcome if they want to stay up. Vitor Pereira's side could feasibly be above Spurs when this fixture arrives, as Tottenham face Liverpool the week before while Forest host Fulham.

Both teams have European knockout second legs days earlier with Spurs at home to Atletico Madrid while Forest are in Denmark to face FC Midtjylland, as one potential positive.

Wolves (A) - April 25/26

In late April, Spurs make the trip to Molineux where they will face a likely already-relegated Wolves. Despite their recent resurgence, the gap to safety for Rob Edwards' side is simply too big but they will certainly play a role in who joins them in the Championship.

Alongside hosting Spurs, they face West Ham a few weeks earlier, having already held Forest to a goalless draw last month.

The north Londoners took on Wolves away from home around this time last season and were beaten 4-2. Having beaten Aston Villa and Liverpool, while also taking points off Arsenal, the bottom-side have to be favourites to beat Spurs again.

Leeds United (H) - May 9/10

Though not directly in the relegation battle, Leeds United have slipped down the table as of late and are just three points off the drop zone.

By the time their meeting against Tottenham in early May arrives however, they could be well clear of danger having welcomed Brentford, Burnley and Wolves before then. If Daniel Farke's side don't win any of those games though, they could be properly dragged into the relegation scrap.

Spurs narrowly won the reverse fixture at Elland Road with Mohammed Kudus netting the winner. Spurs will be hoping that he and several other key players are back for that match.
