Not every Tottenham Hotspur player on loan elsewhere has a future at the club, but there are at least three players who could become useful to Thomas Frank.
Tottenham Hotspur do not always do the best job at selling players. Often, they will be loaned out multiple times before finally being shown the door. As a result, many players Spurs send out on loan do not end up making many first-team appearances before moving on.
Of course, there are some exceptions to this cycle. Harry Kane is the most notable, as he was loaned out four times before establishing himself at Spurs. This shows that while some players will never make it, it is always worth looking out for the ones who might just go on to become the club’s record goalscorer.
There are three players Tottenham loaned out this summer who Thomas Frank should include in his future plans.
Luka Vuskovic is an exciting Tottenham prospect
The arrival of Luka Vuskovic at Spurs was long-awaited, but the supporters will have to wait another year before the defender makes his competitive debut. However, this was due to the player’s own desire to improve.
Vuskovic rejected Tottenham’s offer to stay in North London because he wanted more game time. This is not for selfish reasons, but so he can get better and reach the levels of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
One of the most exciting things about Vuskovic is his attacking threat, which is unusual for a centre-back. He likes to get forward when he can and chip in with goals and assists. Frank will be keeping track of Vuskovic’s progress at Hamburg if his loan goes well, he should get plenty of first-team experience at Tottenham next season.
Jamie Donley is progressing away from Spurs
Jamie Donley is steadily moving up the ranks. He was loaned out for the first time last season and did very well at Leyton Orient. The O’s were just one win away from gaining promotion to the Championship, but Charlton Athletic were too strong on the day.
Donley has taken a shortcut to the English second tier by joining Stoke City on loan. He has not yet started a match in the Championship, but has been brought off the bench twice. Donley got an assist in one of those fixtures and Stoke are flying high in third place.
If the Northern Ireland international can find his way into the Stoke starting lineup, that will be very good for his development. So long as Donley keeps gradually improving, he could one day reach the required standards to play for Spurs.
James Maddison turns 29 in November and will not be around forever. Within the next couple of years, there could be an opening at Tottenham as a backup attacking midfielder to Xavi Simons and Donley should be first in line if all goes well.
Mikey Moore can become a Tottenham star
It would be fair to say that some Tottenham supporters got a bit too carried away about Mikey Moore last season. The 18-year-old has shown plenty of promise, but comparing him with a young Lionel Messi was unnecessary.
This does not change the fact that Moore is both highly skilled and a very good dribbler. The winger even opened his Spurs goalscoring account in the Europa League last season and was able to get some Premier League minutes.
However, Moore has not got off to the best start in the Scottish Premiership. Rangers are yet to win a league fixture and his most notable contribution against Celtic last Sunday was to commit a foul which resulted in a yellow card.
Despite this, there is still time for Moore to make an impact for Russell Martin’s struggling side. Even if he does not, he is still young and has time to grow and improve. It is worth remembering that Amad Diallo did not experience much joy at Rangers, yet he was one of Manchester United’s standout players last season.
