Popular actor Timothee Chalamet played soccer as a kid growing up in New York City and traveled to London for a soccer tournament, where he faced Liverpool DF Joe Gomez

American actor Timothee Chalamet is once again making all of the headlines around the world on a press tour for his upcoming ping-pong drama movie titled 'Marty Supreme.'
The 29-year-old is a self-avowed sports fan who played soccer while growing up in New York, featuring for a side called Manhattan Kickers FC. Sometime between 2006 and 2008, the Kicks went on a trip abroad to London for a tournament.
They faced off against a Charlton youth side featuring current Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, at the time a pre-teen with a bright future. A photo regularly circulates on social media of Gomez sitting next to Chalamet whenever the American actor has a marquee film out.

Chalamet is a two-time Academy Award nominee and has a Screen Actors Guild win to his name. He has starred in a plethora of hit films, including Dune, Interstellar, Wonka, A Complete Unknown, Lady Bird, and more.
Gomez hasn't done too poorly for himself, either. The 28-year-old has struggled with fitness issues at times but has earned 252 appearances and 181 starts for Liverpool after joining from Charlton as an 18-year-old in 2015.
He's notably without a senior goal and hasn't locked down a permanent starting position since 2019. Still, this hasn't stopped Gomez from earning 15 caps for England and a spot on the 2024 Euros team.
Chalamet has spoken about his love of soccer on multiple occasions. The son of a French father, the native New Yorker spent his summers in France.

He adopted an allegiance to Saint-Etienne, a French powerhouse during his childhood. "Chased the team up there," he said during an interview last year with Nardwuar.
"Bafetimbi Gomis, Dimitri Payet... it was that generation of Saint-Etienne players. [I'm a] big Saint-Etienne fan, probably the team I support most in the world; better than the New York Knicks (basketball)."
Chalamet revealed during an interview with Theo Von that one of his childhood teammates on the Manhattan Kickers is current Nashville FC player Alex Muyl.

"It’s tough. It’s like that Last Dance Chicago Bulls documentary, some of those guys would be partying all night, and then Dennis Rodman would drop 40." After a Von joke, Chalamet admitted that Muyl is a "foot Mozart," after the famous musical composer.
'Marty Supreme' — also featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler the Creator, and Odessa A'zion — is out on Christmas Day.
