Hugo Ekitike could become a better striker for Liverpool than Fernando Torres, according to Didi Hamann.
The Frenchman has 15 goals so far for the Reds since signing from Eintracht Frankfurt. Arriving for a fee that could reach $106 million (£79 million), including add-ons, Ekitike has made a flying start to life on Merseyside. He scored twice against Brighton a few weeks ago and will be looking to repeat the trick this weekend in the FA Cup.
"The thing is, Fernando Torres did it for a number of years," Hamann said. "You know, he obviously did it in Spain, he did it for Spain. And he was just electric when he was at Liverpool.

"He was just too good. He was so far above everybody else.
"Hugo Ekitike? I think he's got the capabilities, I think he's got the talent to do it. Obviously, he's got to do it for a longer period.

"Potentially, I think he could be a better player. I wouldn't say he's a better player now, but I know where Carra (Jamie Carragher, who said similar) is coming from."
Ekitike, 23, still has plenty of room to develop, but so far, alongside Florian Wirtz, he has made the biggest impression of anyone that Liverpool signed last summer.
"I saw him in the Bundesliga, and I knew he was a very talented kid," Hamann, speaking to Thunderpick, continued.
"But when he did leave, I spoke to one of the officials in Frankfurt, and he said: 'This guy is potentially the best player in the world in two or three years'.

"Obviously, we see some of that now because he just has everything. The way he moves, he's quick, his touch, his awareness, and the finish.
"And obviously, that finish was just extra special. And I think only a special player can finish like that. So obviously, once you see a goal like this, with all these other qualities, you know you've got a player on your hands."
Liverpool.com says: Ekitike has been electric so far. When Alexander Isak returns, there will be room for both players in the Reds' new-look attack, but that he has hit the ground running has been a huge advantage given the struggles elsewhere.
