Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could go head-to-head for a South American teenager who has been turning a lot of heads in Europe over recent months.

Spurs face a tricky time in planning for the summer window, as the club are still not assured of their place in the Premier League next season.

Reports have indicated that Tottenham are making two distinct plans for their first transfer window under Roberto De Zerbi, depending on whether they stay up or go down.

One of those seemingly involves a young Colombian midfielder, but the Lilywhites may face plenty of competition for his services.

Tottenham could battle Arsenal and Bayern Munich for Samuel Martinez

Journalist Philipp Kessler has now revealed that Tottenham are considering a move for 17-year-old midfield starlet Samuel Martinez.

The teenager, who is a number ten by trade, is viewed as one of the most promising young talents in Colombian football, having won many admirers with his performances for Atletico Nacional’s youth sides.

However, the German journalist revealed that Martinez, who has been likened by some to Brazilian legend Kaka, is also on the radars of both Bayern Munich and the Lilywhites’ North London rivals.

Kessler wrote on X: “FC Bayern is comparing the Colombia gem Samuel Martinez to Brazil legend Kaka. Alongside the Bavarians, Tottenham and Arsenal have also joined the race for the attacking talent around the U17 South American Championship final.”

Five other clubs have scouted Martinez this season

GiveMeSport have relayed Kessler’s report and have provided their own information on how the race for the Atletico Nacional starlet is shaping up.

They reveal that Martinez is keen on a move to Europe this summer and suggest that he could be available for a ‘bargain’ fee.

However, the outlet says that the competition for the teenager could intensify as he has recently been scouted by Chelsea, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica.
