Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for a highly-rated young Serie A defender, but they face competition from Premier League as well as European rivals.
There remains a question mark over Radu Dragusin’s future at Spurs, with the centre-back continuing to be linked with a return to Serie A.
If Tottenham lose him, that will leave them with just three recognised central defenders in their squad, given that Kota Takai has joined Borussia Monchengladbach on loan.
As a result, it has now emerged that the Lilywhites are in the market for a defender, and a 22-year-old has caught their eye.

Tottenham battling two Premier League rivals for Sassuolo man
According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham have been impressed by the development of Sussuolo star Tarik Muharemovic, whose stock is growing rapidly in Italy.
Muharemovic signed permanently for Sassuolo this summer after impressing on loan at the club last season, and he is quickly developing into one of the best young defenders in Serie A.
Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the Bosnian closely, and with the Lilywhites on the lookout for a young, progressive defender, it is suggested that they could intensify their pursuit.
However, Muharemovic is also on the radars of both Man United and Newcastle United, who are both keen on bolstering their defence.
One European club is readying a Tarik Muharemovic offer
It is not just the Premier League trio who are interested in the Sassuolo man, with Inter Milan and Juventus also keeping tabs on the youngster’s situation.
However, the club who are the most advanced at the moment are RB Leipzig, who are alleged to be readying a €25m (£21.6m) offer for Muharemovic.
Interestingly, the centre-back came through the Juve academy, and the Bianconeri still hold a 50 per cent sell-on clause for the player, thus making negotiations complicated.
