Tottenham and Nottingham Forest both fighting to land 27-year-old Juventus defender

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a centre-back who has been deemed surplus to requirements by a Serie A giant.

There is uncertainty over the futures of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven at Tottenham, with big clubs circling over the pair ahead of the summer window.

While Luka Vuskovic has emerged as a generational talent on loan at Hamburg this season, he is extremely inexperienced, and the jury is out on whether he is ready to be a starter for the North Londoners.

It has now emerged that Spurs are turning their attention to a Juventus centre-back to fill any potential holes in their defence.

Tottenham battling Premier League rivals for Federico Gatti

According to a report in TuttoSport, Spurs have expressed their interest in Juventus’ Federico Gatti ahead of the summer window.

The report reveals that the Italian international could be one of the players sacrificed this summer by Luciano Spalletti as he looks to rebuild his Juve squad.

The outlet claims that Gatti is ‘struggling’ under the experienced coach, and he is attracting ‘strong interest’ from England, where Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are both fans.

However, it is suggested that Spurs may only make a move for the 27-year-old defender if Igor Tudor remains at the club beyond the summer.

Igor Tudor is unlikely to remain at Spurs

Gatti may not be the only player that the Croatian coach has recommended to the Tottenham hierarchy since arriving at the club two weeks ago.

Reports from Italy indicate that Tudor has urged Spurs to sign AS Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, who is out of contract this summer.

However, it has been widely reported that Tudor is unlikely to be made permanent Tottenham head coach, with the Lilywhites expected to ramp up their search for a full-time boss soon.
