Tottenham appoint Igor Tudor as new head coach after Thomas Frank sacking

Igor Tudor has been appointed as Tottenham Hotspur's new head coach - replacing Thomas Frank.

Tudor has become the club's interim manager and will take charge of Spurs until the end of the season. If Tudor's appointment turns out to be a success, football.london understands he will be considered for the permanent role come the summer.

Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino remain in the frame to become Spurs' permanent boss. De Zerbi is out of work having left Marseille earlier this week and Pochettino is focused on managing the USA at this summer's World Cup.

Tudor will be in charge for the players' return to training on Monday, when Spurs will begin preparations for the North London Derby against Arsenal next Sunday.

Following his announcement, he said: "It is an honour to join this Club at an important moment.

“I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear. To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.

“There is strong quality in this playing squad, and my job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly.”

Sporting Director Johan Lange added: “Igor brings clarity, intensity and experience of stepping into challenging moments and producing impact.

“Our objective is straightforward – to stabilise performances, maximise the quality within the squad and compete strongly in the Premier League and Champions League.”

A seasoned manager, of more than a decade, Tudor has previously held roles with the likes of PAOK, Galatasaray, Marseille and Lazio. The Croatian's last job was with Juventus between March and October 2025, as the Old Lady's first non-Italian manager since Didier Deschamps in 2006/07.

The 47-year-old's first game in charge will come in the form of the North London Derby on Sunday, February 22.

It comes as Spurs made the decision to part ways with Frank on Wednesday morning, after his disastrous eight-month tenure in north London.

Despite previously thriving with Brentford, the Dane failed to make much of a mark with the Lilywhites - leaving them after a particularly challenging period in which they failed a Premier League win in eight games.

An official statement from the club on Frank read: "The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men's head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today.

Thomas Frank stands with his arms crossed.

Thomas Frank was sacked on Wednesday.

"Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together. However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.

"Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment - giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future."
