Tottenham are looking to strengthen in four positions in January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on strengthening several areas across the pitch in what could be a busy transfer window for the club.

The transfer window is now officially open, and the Lilywhites have already completed one deal.

Brennan Johnson has joined Crystal Palace for £35m, and the pace of the transfer agreement is not something that Tottenham fans have been used to in the Daniel Levy era.

The supporters will be hoping that the club show similar urgency in bringing players through the door, and it has emerged that they are eyeing multiple additions.

Tottenham want to strengthen their attack, defence and midfield

TEAMtalk have now backed the North London club to make multiple signings this month, revealing that there are four positions they are looking at.

The outlet backs up what we have heard from other sources by stating that a left-sided attacker remains the club’s top priority.

Additionally, it is revealed that Spurs are also exploring moves for a striker and a midfielder this month.

Finally, given Destiny Udogie’s injury issues and Micky van de Ven’s history of hamstring problems, the club are also looking for defensive cover on the left side.

Signing an ideal defensive cover is expected to be difficult for Spurs

TEAMtalk spoke to journalist Dean Jones, who explained that Thomas Frank’s men are looking for a very specific profile for the left-sided defender role.

He revealed that Spurs are assessing market opportunities in that position, but concluded that it may be difficult for them to find the right player mid-season.

Jones told the outlet: “I’m told Spurs are searching the market for a new left-sided defender and I think it is something that we will hear more about later in the window.

“At the moment, Spurs are looking for a market opportunity – I’m told they don’t have a key target right now, they just believe it is somewhere they are potentially going to be caught short soon.

“I don’t think there is an easy fix, and it will be interesting to see how desperate they become to fix it – or whether they are willing to try to see the season out if they don’t find someone of the perfect profile.

“But Spurs do definitely want a player for the left side of defence, so are very much keeping an eye on the market in England as well as abroad to see if there is something suitable that crops up.”
