Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on a Ligue 1 trio, with the club sending scouts to France to run the rule over them this weekend.

Tottenham were one of the busier clubs during the summer transfer window, bringing seven players through the door.

However, just a little over two weeks after the closure of the window, focus has already shifted towards the club’s targets in January.

According to various sources, Tottenham are set to change their transfer strategy following the exit of Daniel Levy, with the club set to target ‘elite’ players to close the gap with the best sides in the Premier League and Europe.

Tottenham are eyeing three Monaco stars

According to TBR Football, three Monaco stars are on Spurs’ radar, with scouts from the North London side being present at Auxerre on Sunday to watch the side in action.

One of those players is Maghnes Akliouche, who was a name discussed internally at Spurs in the summer before the club swooped for Xavi Simons.

It is revealed that Tottenham also want to add depth to their full-back positions and are thus also keeping an eye on Vanderson.

The third Monaco player on the North London club’s radar is midfielder Lamine Camara, who has partnered Pape Matar Sarr in the middle of the park for Senegal on several occasions.

Tottenham may have been watching Monaco for another reason

While these players may be on Tottenham’s radar, there is another big reason for officials from the Premier League side to watch Monaco in action.

Monaco are one of Spurs’ eight opponents in the league phase of the Champions League, with the Lilywhites set to travel to Stade Louis II on October 22.

We know that Thomas Frank tends to be thorough in his opposition research and sets his team up to take advantage of the opposition’s weaknesses. He might have wanted his analysts to run the rule on the Ligue 1 side in the flesh.
