An Argentine journalist has provided the latest update on Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of River Plate starlet Ian Subiabre.
Tottenham’s interest in Ian Subiabre dates back to last summer’s transfer window, with the 19-year-old winger catching the Lilywhites’ attention with his impressive displays in the Club World Cup.
It appears that the North Londoners have once again reignited their interest in the Argentine starlet ahead of the summer window.
It has been widely reported over the last few days that Spurs are ready to ‘accelerate’ their interest in Subiabre, with the Premier League side’s interest causing panic at River Plate.

Where Tottenham stand currently in Ian Subiabre transfer race
Argentine journalist Hernan Castillo has now revealed that Tottenham are involved in a four-horse race for the teenage winger ahead of the summer window.
He claimed that Spurs hold ‘very strong’ interest in Subiabre, who is also wanted by Chelsea, while Villarreal and Lazio have also made multiple enquiries regarding the youngster.
Castillo said on LOVE/ST (as translated by Sport Witness): “River is going to have a strong market in the middle of the year. They will spend, but they will also bring in money because it is very difficult for them to keep Subiabre. Very difficult.
“He has too much interest already. I know that Tottenham, Chelsea, Villarreal, and Lazio are making constant enquiries. And now Tottenham are very strong.”
Spurs considering sending an opening offer for Subiabre
It was previously reported that while Subiabre’s current deal contains €100m (£87.2m) release clause, the Tottenham target could be available for around €15m (£13.1m) this summer.
Castillo has now asserted that the Lilywhites are now considering sending an offer of around €12m to €14m (£10.4m-£12.2m) to River Plate for the teenager, adding that the player is likely to leave the Argentine giants.
The journalist added: “I know that for Subiabre, besides the people who represent him, there has already been an €8m offer that River rejected. And Tottenham are thinking about €12m or €14m.
“It is very, very likely that Subiabre will leave River. So they are going to have important money to go into the market and replace things they are already starting to replace.”
