Tottenham battling Premier League rivals for £30m six-goal striker despite hands-off warning

Tottenham Hotspur have made advances towards a Premier League centre-forward ahead of the January window, but they face competition for his signature.

It has been widely reported that Spurs are keen to add a number nine to their squad in January, and that is understandable, given the issues that Thomas Frank’s men have had up front.

According to some sources, the Lilywhites have set their sights on a 24-year-old centre-forward who has scored six goals in 11 Premier League matches and is second only to Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot.

Tottenham are allegedly eyeing a move for Brentford star Igor Thiago, who has done brilliantly for Kieth Andrews’ men since the departure of Yoane Wissa in the summer.

Reports in Trivela and ESPN Brazil have now confirmed that the Brazilian forward is on the North London club’s radar.

It is revealed that Spurs have already made enquiries about Thiago’s availability and his price, but they are not the only ones interested.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also fans of Thiago and have made advances towards him ahead of the January window.

However, it is asserted that Brentford are expected to fight to hold on to their top scorer after having lost a lot of goals in the summer through the departures of Wissa and Bryan Mbuemo.

Thiago’s stock is now rising rapidly, but the West London club have already clarified their stance on the player ahead of January.

Last week, Kieth Andrews issued a hands-off warning to Spurs and Thiago’s other suitors, insisting that the Brazilian is going “nowhere”.

Whether the Lilywhites will be able to make a lucrative enough offer to change Brentford’s minds remains to be seen.
