Tottenham Hotspur may be set to battle three Premier League clubs for the signature of a rising Bundesliga star this summer.

The central defensive department may need the most work this summer ahead of Roberto De Zerbi’s first full season in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

That is down to rumours suggesting that Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven could leave Spurs for an elite club at the end of this campaign.

The Lilywhites have now reportedly turned their attention to a French international, who is expected to be on the move this summer.

Tottenham consider an offer for Castello Lukeba

It was reported last summer that Tottenham explored a move for RB Leipzig’s centre-back Castello Lukeba, who has a €90m (£78.3m) release clause in his contract.

The Daily Mail have now claimed that Spurs have reignited their interest in the 23-year-old, having been impressed by his ability to play out from the back.

The outlet states that Lukeba is ‘ready to move this summer’, but Tottenham are not the only Premier League club interested, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United also on his trail.

The report adds that all four English clubs are now considering making offers of around £40m for the France international.

Spurs may already have a readymade Cristian Romero replacement

There have been suggestions that Romero has a release clause in his contract, which means that Tottenham may be helpless to stop their captain from leaving.

However, the club may already have a readymade replacement in Luka Vuskovic, who is continuing to post incredible numbers on loan at Hamburg.

Vuskovic has made it clear he will be a Tottenham player next season, and Spurs fans will be hoping the 19-year-old is ready to make the step up to Premier League football.
