Tottenham could battle Chelsea for 25-year-old striker on £5.2m-per-year wages

Tottenham Hotspur are assessing a move for a 25-year-old striker, who is expected to be on the move from a European giant in January.

The number nine role has been a problem area for Spurs this season, and their situation has got even more complicated after learning that Randal Kolo Muani is now facing two months or more on the sidelines.

It has been widely reported that Tottenham are keen on adding a striker to their squad in January, and one player, who only made a big move in the summer, is thought to be on their radar.

According to some reports, Spurs have launched an enquiry for Jonathan David, who has struggled to produce the goods since his summer move to Juventus, having found the back of the net just once this season in Turin.

Tottenham and Chelsea are linked with Jonathan David

A new report from TuttoMercatoWeb has now backed up the Lilywhites’ interest in the Canadian international, whose future at the Allianz Stadium is now in major doubt.

It is explained that David has failed to impress new Juve boss Luciano Spalletti and his coaching staff, and the Old Lady are now ready to reshape their squad in January.

The Serie A club are ready to ‘reflect on the possibility’ of a January exit for the former Lille star.

It is revealed that Chelsea are ready to challenge Tottenham for the centre-forward’s signature, with both London clubs ‘making their assessments’ ahead of a potential move for Jonathan David.

Juventus want to keep Tottenham target Vlahovic

A report in Gazzetta dello Sport from a few days ago also made similar claims, claiming that Juve want to get David’s €6m (£5.2m) per season salary off their wage bill.

Interestingly, that update suggested that Dusan Vlahovic is now more likely to stay than the summer signing, as the Serbian has moved up Spalletti’s pecking order.

This comes as a blow to the Lilywhites as reports have indicated over recent weeks that Fabio Paratici wants to bring Vlahovic to Tottenham in January.
