An experienced Premier League star who Tottenham tried to sign during the summer transfer window is now on the market, and the competition for his signature is intensifying.
It has been widely reported that the Lilywhites want to add a top-class centre-back to their squad in January, and several Premier League stars are thought to be on the club’s radar.
It has been suggested that Tottenham have looked at Brentford’s Nathan Collins and Leeds United’s Pascal Struijk ahead of January.
Over recent days, it has emerged that Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Ezri Konsa, while several sources continue to report that Thomas Frank’s men are big fans of Jarrad Branthwaite.

Man City star wanted by Tottenham is available in January
During the summer transfer window, it was reported that Tottenham explored a move for Nathan Ake, but the defender ended up staying put at Man City.
CaughtOffside now claim that City are willing to cash in on Ake for a fee of around €30m-€35m (£26.4m-£30.8m) during the upcoming transfer window.
This has sparked interest in several clubs, with Inter Milan, Juventus and Crystal Palace all keen on signing the 30-year-old.
Inter and Juve value Ake’s tactical versatility, while Palace see the former Bournemouth as a readymade replacement for Marc Guehi if he leaves Selhurst Park.
What Nathan Ake is thinking about his future
The report makes no mention of Tottenham Hotspur signalling an interest in the City star, and there might be a good reason for that.
CaughtOffside say that Ake is keen to leave the Etihad Stadium, and he wants to move to a side which can guarantee him regular starts.
The experienced Premier League defender believes that he needs to play regularly in order to make it into the Netherlands’ squad for the upcoming World Cup.
With Romero and Ake’s international teammate, Van de Ven, already at Spurs, Frank is not in a position to make that kind of promise to the City star.
