Tottenham are exploring the market for a new forward for Thomas Frank as they continue to work on a deal for Santos left-back Souza
Tottenham's hopes of landing Savinho from Manchester City have been dealt a blow after Pep Guardiola ruled the Brazilian out of action for up to two months.
The 21-year-old winger was on Spurs' radar last summer but Etihad Stadium chiefs decided to step in a block a move.
Savinho remains appreciated by the Europa League winners and was believed to be open to a switch to N17 ahead of the current season.
However, the stars did not align and any slim hope Tottenham could reignite their interest and clinch a move has now disintegrated after the player picked up an injury against Sunderland on New Years' Day.
Guardiola revealed following the 1-1 draw with Brighton that Savinho will be out for at least six weeks, possibly up to two months.

Semenyo is booked to undergo a medical at City on Thursday after he netted a stoppage-time winner to down Spurs on Wednesday night in the Premier League.
Even worse for Tottenham, Savinho's injury also means Omar Marmoush is unlikely to be available for transfer in January amid reports Thomas Frank's side are monitoring the Egyptian's situation.
Earlier this month, Spurs sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace in a £35m deal that has divided the fanbase.
Since then, Mohammed Kudus has picked up an injury (adductor) and Tottenham are now light on the ground in attack.
Speaking pre-Bournemouth, Frank made it clear his side are looking to strengthen their ranks as soon as possible: “I think it’s pretty fair to say that we are maybe a little bit short on offensive options.
“I think also it’s fair, there’s no one who’s really grabbed that shirt on the left-hand side. So I think that’s definitely up for grabs.
“I think it was a positive performance from Mathys [against Sunderland]. I think he did some positive things and got into good situations.”
Dejan Kulusevski is on the comeback trail but is yet to kick a ball for Tottenham this season following patella tendon surgery last year.
Dominic Solanke is back in training but has only featured three times this term and he'll need to take things slow to get up to maximum speed.
Yang Min-hyeok was recalled from his loan spell with Portsmouth but he's already headed straight back out on loan to Championship leaders Coventry City.
